Teen bedroom design…please help I’m so confused!!!

so i’ve been trying to figure out how to design/decorate my room for years now and I finally thought I had it nailed down when I all the sudden think I don’t know if this will look good etc…I might want to be an interior designer/decorator when I’m older (im 15) so I have a billion different ideas for every room im in. anyway I have a full color palate and a picture which i was going to turn into a mural but I dont know which colors to choose, if it will look good, if it will be too much etc. theres a picture of it so you can see for yourself. oh and if you have other ideas im completely open to suggestion…you can probably tell I LOVE bright, happy colors…Thanks!

All the colors are beautiful, pick one that best suits the light and size of your room. I would try to pick a color that is more to the neutral so as to not demand attention away from the mural.

The pale face powder almost pink poppy color would be my choice, light, feminine and very pretty. If the room can take a darker color, maybe one of the greens.

The other poppy colors could be used as accents, toss pillows, bed covering and window curtains.

The mural is very bright and graphic so try to keep everything else as simple as possible, you want the mural to be a focal point, so don’t put in a lot of stuff that will detract from the mural.

Art Theme: Personal Space?

I'm doing art and design as an A Level next year and our theme is personal space. I'm struggling to think of what to draw etc.

Suggestions have been interior/exterior area, the interests of yourself or someone else's character, negative spaces (does anyone know what this means?), structure of objects in relation to their environment, closed or open space i.e. view through a door or window at the rear of your composition.

So does anyone else have any ideas?

mine's the coast!

-someone in a field

-you could draw a group of people on a busy street with a sort of barrier around one

-take photos of people in their element e.g.-in their bedroom

-someone in a garden

-someone reading a book under a tree in the park on a summers day

-someone doing the same as above^^ but everywhere except for an area around them(which is summer) is winter+snow

-as least pervy as possible-you could do some ones silhouette behind a screen (getting changed lol)

-you could paint a big room, but with a few people in it+ around the area which they are sitting is personalised:e.g. one person looks like they like rock music, so there's posters+the carpet has flames or black etc

you could do things like someone crying+really lonely who has too much personal space+needs someone else—+you could do one with someone who has lack of personal space

try to think outside the box!

What would you place ON and IN a dresser?

it’s a mirror dresser consisting of all drawers (6 deep ones).. i am looking for a simplistic look.. Put yourself in a interior designing mode for a moment. What would you put on a dresser? What items scream dresser rather than night stand, wardrobe or shelf?

Now.. same sort of comment, but change dresser into bedside. What items scream bedside rather than dresser, wardrobe or shelf. Bedside consists of two deep drawers and surface space (duh).

TIP: i like only the essential things. i don’t like excess ornaments or beauty products, just simple practical things. Some examples: a few favorite books, flowers, lamps, alarm clock, ipod speakers etc.

PLEASE HELP ME, i have obsessive compulsive disorder and my doctor told me i wasn’t allowed to do my bedroom myself but seek others advice because i tend to depend on others opinions because when i seek my own advice, it stresses me out completely!! x
ha ha.. i love my bible. but i'm confused sorry as to what ones are for the bedside and what ones are for the dresser.. eek!! i'm guessing the first few are bedside items??

I have a dresser that sounds very like the one you mentioned. On top, I have a whole variety of scented candles in a rainbow of color that I purchased for cheap at IKEA. Apart from that, I have a little fish bowl where my gold fish Harry lives, my Alarm clock, and a bamboo plant in a pretty vase. To add some color to the scene, I found a beautiful flowered placemat (the kind you use at dinner) and placed it under all of these things. It doesn’t ride up like a pretty sheet or scarf would and no one knows it’s not supposed to be used to decorate a dresser!
As for what goes on your nightstand rather than your dresser, that is completely up to you. I like to seperate my items by mirror and no mirror. If I need a mirror to use the item (ie: make up, hair brush, lotions, earrings, etc.) it goes on my dresser, if it is something like a book or vitamins or tissues, I keep them on my bedside table. (also, I’m more likely to need those things when I’m actually in bed, and then I don’t need to get up and get them.
I’m sorry about your disorder- just try to stay relaxed and trust what you like. Experiment with angling objects different ways and have fun! I hope this helped! Good Luck
