Welcome back! I hope you find everything you are looking for here. Thanks for visiting again!
It's an old style home built in 1900. Rooms a smaller than I'm use too but the home I have now is gigantic and I can't see keeping it after the kids are gone. In this new home, my youngest son will live with his wife on the 3rd floor, the home owner, my eldest son will live on the 2nd floor and my husband and I have the 1st floor. The kitchen and bath need a complete remodel. Hard wood floors and lovely door and window trim, also also finished wood. The house overlooks a marina and river. Presently my home is decorated in a Tuscan style with the use of earth elements, leather, wood and stone. Not sure it'll have the same appeal in the new place. There is also about an acre of land, fruit trees, grapevines and sun porches that overlook them.
Please give me some idea's for apartment decorating. I've never lived in an apartment. I'm not into "modern", more Tuscan or I would consider something the complement the water (river). Thanks
Excuse me, I meant something that compliments the river.
how about a garden theme, or paint murals on the walls with a Tuscan slant? Maybe more Roman Garden?
hgtv.com, rate my space, search for "Northville" for ideas.

The above URL is a layout of how my room is currently. I would love to add a new desk/ entertainment center and a love seat but my bed is so big that it takes up most of the space in my room. My bed has to stay where it is because it has a shelf connected to it and because the air conditioner has to stay where it is to use the window as a vent. The TV has to be at least 4 feet off the ground to be able to see it from the bed. Any suggestions on how I can input a new desk and loveseat?
Simple Answer: You can't.
You have too many "must" requirements to make anything seem well worth the money you're willing to spend.
The best advice I can give is: (1) Go to the library and read up on decorating. (2) Study the concepts, formulas, color schemes and other "basics" before attempting anything where spending money is involved. (3) BE WILLING to compromise and erase any and all "must" requirements. Otherwise, leave the room as is, put the money in a good IRA and when you can get over the "must" requirements, then go back to the start of this advice. Meanwhile, your money is earning interest.
I recommend starting with the 2 links below. Good luck and happy learning. Designing is a "disease". Once it gets in your blood, your hooked for life!

I want to give our apt a face lift but we are not permitted to paint the walls, even if we paint them back when we move. They are a horrible HIGH gloss off white. Also, our living room is very large for an apt. 14′x13′ so you can imagine how annoying big plain walls are. My decor colors are Light Green, Ivory, Gold, and Dark Cherry Red with Cherry wood. Does anyone have suggestions for me to make my place look fresh and airy with horrible white walls? Here is a link to a picture I drew up of our floor plan.

in my daughters bedroom every two years we change her theme. the walls were becoming a problem due to too much paint and wallpaper! i decided to use fabric. you can get removable adhesives at your local craft store that wont damage the wall but are hardy enough to hold the fabric in place. measure your walls including the windows and purchase your fabric. remember the fabric comes in yards. hopefully you can sew if not the sell tacky fabric glue that you can use. put your adhesives on your walls and put up the fabric like wall paper! use your tacky glue to glue the pieces of fabric together ( do this before you put it on the wall) try to make sure your seams fall in the corners of the room. to hide the edges of the fabric by the cieling and near the floor i took cord ribbon and painted it the color of the cieling and base board. i ran this along the top where the fabric meets the ceiling and along the bottom of the entire room. if you pick a fabric with a light pattern you will not need any pictures or anything! this technique can be so complimenting to any room and fun to do. it will not damage your walls when its time to come down and will leave no evedence that it was ever there!
good luck and have fun
